Too big of a clean up crew

In our 55 we would like to add a clean up crew that is advertised for 100g and add a few extra nassarius and urchins. There will eventually be five small fish and softies. There is about 75 lbs of rock and a black sand SSB in front of all the rocks with BB underneath them.

How much is too much? I like critters, especially shrimp.

I have no idea what everyone will say. but for me what they say is the amount needed for a 100g is too much. They may clean but they also pollute.

Sounds like a lot to me but I need some info. How much filtration do you have? How big and what type of fish?

I attached a thumbnail of the tank. Right now there are zero fish. All of my stuff got wiped on the move from hell, but the rock was in a trash can with tank water and after some water changes and a good cleaning appears not to have cycled. All of my rock is in the one tank now which is about 75 lbs.

The tank has a Aqua C remora pro with the mag 3 that is turning out really light tea colored skimmate, and I hung a Whisper filter on there just to run floss for two days to clean up the sand dust then pulled it. There are six Maxijets 1200's in there total with most of them hidden shooting out from the back towards the front sand.

There is about two-three inches of black sand in the front, and nothing under the rocks.

All of the ammonia cycle stuff is zero, and the only inhabitants are one turbo snail and one hermit that hid out with the rock.

The reason that I was going to order the 55-100g clean up crew is that they added shrimp to it for ten bucks more..hermits and snails are the same number as the smaller size clean up crew from www.saltwaterfish.com. Also, I want to get my 29 going soon and will pull a third of the crew to dump in there along with a couple of rocks for a tank just to keep two fish in and look pretty.

Sound OK to me especially since your going to put 1/3 of them into a 29. If the tank is cycled I would reccomend that you get a few small fish or a messy eater such as a Lion (reef safe). Or (non reef safe) Eel or Trigger.

We are planning on a pair of clowns, a cardinal, a lawn mower blenny and a royal gramma eventually. Also we had a rose BTA for two years before the move and will try that again..we had great luck. First though is just the cardinal and the blenny along with the clean up crew, then in two months we will add more and the softies.

Wish we had an LFS in this state, it takes a lot more planning but probably helps not making an impulse purchase.

Your welcome, You have got back up and running on Your tank in a very short time since the lost of most of it. That has to be hard to lose it all during the move. I hate to have any kind of lost when it come to my tanks. I go into panic mode.

That is a little more difficult without a LFS. With a Blenny in there that will take a lot of work away from the clean-up crew. IMO I would get a few fish, wait a short while, get the crew, then place the 1/3 in a 29 when it's ready and then get the blenny.

I would hold off on the fish and run the tank for a couple months with just a clean up crew in there.
