Tonga/Eva Live Rock question...

I spotted a great peice of this rock last week while outta town and bought it. It was covered in sponges, macro algae, coralline algae, and unfortunately dead SPS corals that didnt make the trans-shipment intact. It was by far the best piece of Live Rock I have ever seen to date!

Is this rock always "branchy" (it was a conglomeration of what looks to be branches that are fused together to make a cluster of branches) like this and always have this much life on it? If this rock has a reputation for being this nice I want to order at least 100 pounds from a reputable dealer!!!

I would appreciate any info or knowledge that anyone wishes to share.

I think it is the same as Kaelini. I bought 200pds of it from Jeffs and it is awesome! You need to cure it for about a month and the sponges will not handle the shipping. I would make your choice based on shape, and Kaelini/Eva looks great IMO!

Here is a shot of my tank after curing, I lost 80% of the color, but it will come back

PJ,
I got it from Nippon Goldfish I think it was, its close to 6th st aquarium store.

Casey,
It looked almost that good life wise, but was a fuse cluster of branches thats about 11 lbs and barely fits in a 10 gallon aquarium.

Calvinc4s,

Thats what I kinda thought. I have about 240 lbs of Kaelini already, and it was some pretty good stuff. But this rock I got last week just absolutely blows that away!

I was just kinda curious if this was a no kidding different type of rock or if this was just a rather choice piece I scammed on. They had two more really sweet pieces that were almost as good but I didnt buy them that night and couldnt make it back the next day before I left to get the rest. I am still beatting myself profussly about the back side for not whipping out the plastic and get the rest of it. I was 5 minutes late after closing due to traffic and I couldnt talk them into holding the door for me since I was visiting and leaving that night. Even after I told them I was going to buy 30lbs of it a 30 lbs of the rock rubble they had if they would. If they would have had anymore in the back I would have bought up to a 100lbs in a heart beat! It was that awesome!!! Man that really blows big time!!!
