If the rock is not too big, you can take a pair of wire cutters with a large opening for the jaws and place the cutting edges between the two specimens. Apply pressure and the rock will split. If the rock is much larger than the wire cutters will split, renive the rock from the tank, put it on a towel, use a chisel and a hammer on the live rock and split the specimens off the rock.
