depends on lighting, water quality, circulation and ntrient levels in the tank. I have grown some in a high nutrient tank (10PPM nitrates) with VHO's about 4: above them as a group that went from 1" cubes to fully developed specimens 4" tall within 6 months, but conversly,. I have had them in low nutrient conditions where it took nearly a year for them to reach the same size, but I did not document wter conditions during that period of time (tested, I really just dont remember, and I didn't log the values). Might check with Leroy at GARF, he is big into propagating softies. Last batch of octocorals Sarcophytons I did when a group came over and we cut up some specimens, seems Cath brought some over, I have given some of those away, but the ones I have left are around 7" tall now, but were in a low nutrient system, I didn't write down the frag date when we did these either, although I do have the water quality values for the system in question. I ended up witn a large chunck of stalk from the Columbia Calfo meeting a few weeks ago, I haven't cut it into chunks yet, but I prolly will tomorrow, should end up with about 6 good cuttings.
Might see if Cath remembers the date.
Sorry to be so vauge on this, it is 4am here... and there isn't anything but Maxwell house to drink
