Was it a salt water tank before? If so just vinegar and clean water to disolve deposits, and then just a thorough rinse should suffice.

set the tank out on your deck (if you have one) and fill it will tap water... take a gallon of Vinegar and pour it in the tank as well. let it sit for about 6 hours and then take an old creditcard and scrape the galss on the inside of the tank... let everything settle for a little while and then check it again. scrape it again for whatever you mossed. drain the tank and then rinse out. refill the tank again with freswater and then dump another gallon of vinegar in it, let it sit for about six hours and then drain and rinse.. should be GTG

Water with vinegar, let it soak, clean it, repeat until it is clean. The vinegar also works on a FW tank that is being cleaned.

Also you need to make sure that the silicone has not dried out as you will end up a large puddle of water on the floor.

That sounds like experience talking. I had that happen to me on my 45 hex tank. Bought it used, it held water for about two days and then sprang a major leak. Rather than try to re-seal it, it is being used as a planted tank for potted plants.

How can you tell if the silicone has dried out?

Visually check it. Usually when it dries out the edges of it will peel back from the glass. It will also turn a pale white color. Then you water test it.

There may be some other signs, those two are just the things I remember from my 45 that split up on me.
