Tiny Bubbles

Hello,

I been trying to figure this out for a bit, but every time i top up my tank with watter my HOB skimmer starts to produce tiny bubbles into the tank. When the water level goes below the bubble diffuser about 1/4 inch the bubbles are no longer there. Do i always have to keep my water level 1/4 inch under the diffuser?

Thanks

You should be able to adjust the flow into your skimmer. Do you have an intake adjustment for the bubbles?

It can be rebuilt.

this is a problem with any low pressure skimmer. they are very sensitive to water pressure. any little fluction in water level makes it easier or harder for the pump to work, this causes changes in the amount of flow it produces. this in turn makes it very difficult to keep it set properly.

this is a big reason why people have auto top off systems or have thier skimmers in a sump behind a baffle so that the water level will not change where the skimmer is located.
