Timer help

hey all, I was hoping to find timers that would automatically figure out and adjust the on/off times depending on sunrise and sunset times. I found a timer that will com on at dusk and go off at dawn and adjust automatically, but none that do the reverse. any suggestions?

i dont know of any timers that will do that...would be cool if someone actually made one that would update automatically, but failing that, you could just check the average sunrise times and sunset times and set your timer to that. me personally, I set my lights to come on about 10 hours before I usually go to bed (11pm) so that I can enjoy the tank with lights on when I come home.

I think you have in mind a solar sensor, I think a few controllers have the ability to add on that function, but you're looking at a lot of money. If you or any friends are good with electronics, you could build your own using a photovoltaic panel or photo sensor.

I just have mine on a plain old schedule that never changes. My setups aren't worth it yet.

the better aqua controllers are programable for day/night and moon phases as well, but then again you are into spending more money, prolly $150 or more, you can do the same thing with cheap timers, the light dark ratio in the tropics where most reefs occur doesn't vary as much as it does inthe farther latitudes

I wouldn't want my lights going of as soon as it gets dark outMy 10k go off at 10 and my moon come on at 10:55 pm and my 03 go off at 11 pm.
