Time for new bulbs? Opinions

Okay coralvue doesn't cut it. Only six months and they are shot. So I am going xm. Now which one? I have magnetic ballast and run 250 watts. Trying to decide whether to get the 10000 or the 15000k. I like blue but I don't want two much blue. I do not have any acentics. Does the 15000 still have decent par or and only put out a little blue. Hellolights has them for 65 with free shipping can't beat that.

The 15ks have terrible par and the 10ks burn in a little yellow for my taste. I really like the color of the Pheonix 14ks.

Who makes the phoenix? How does their par stand up with the xm 10000. I want good par but I also don't care for the yellow of the 10000.

every phoenix I have found is de. I need mogul. Maybe I'll go with the 10000xm for now and add acentics later. Unless someone knows another good bulb with just a little blue. links would help out alot.

It's decent par, at your depth you should be just fine. Phoenix electric company is the manufacturer and I'm trying to remember where you can pick up a mogul based one as the double ended are more popular

Hmmm. Sanjay has removed the mogul from his website. Maybe they were not popular enough.

The hammiltons are nice also. I'm running 20K reeflux on a 400 watt hqi and they burn more like the 14k Phoenix and hammy's but that doesn;t help you a bit

I can't believe the par diff between the 10000 and 15000! I will be going with the xm10000. reeflux doesn't seem to have mogul either. I would rather have the less than blue look that I like than poor par. Now I get to talk the hubby into redoing the canopy so I can add some acentics!

Oh and the par being 3to4 times what these coralvues are will it be enough to lower the photoperiod until the corals adjust or should I move them lower for a while.

a shorter photoperiod should be enough to get the corals adapted.

I had the XM10K and found them just a bit too yellow I went to 14K hamilton. I love them! not too much blue just right for me. The corals really POP with no need for atinics.

See I can't find much info on the reeflux(other than it's made by coralvue) I have heard others say they like the color of reeflux. Thing is I liked the color of the coralvue but I dont get the growth or color depth in my corals that I had with xm. I really am confused now as to which to get. If I go with 10000xm I get really good par, but not quit the color I want. If I go with something with color I like I will be loosing par. Let's face it a 90 gallon is deep so I want as much par as I can get. Let me know if anyone can find more info on the reeflux output. Even Hamilton doesn't have the par of xm, tho still a good light. I am mostly into lps and clams. Eventually I would like to get some monticaps so I need good lighting. Oh and Andy if you reed this the orange cap you gave me showed up again and is still hanging on. Now if I can get the turbo's to quit breaking it off everywhere I glue it I'll be good, tho not much left of the little guy. okay rambling over
