Third Quiet One Pump Died

I have been using a Quiet One vertical pump for my 75 reef. Three of them have now burned out. The output goes into 1 1/2 inch flex, then a 1 1/2 inch manifold and out three 1/2 inch outlet pipes. Is this causing too much back pressure on the pump? (Rise is only about 3 feet.)
What do you recommend as a replacement? My overflow return box is rated at 700 GPH.
Thanks!

i do not know what to tell you. i have one that is overheating now. i use it on a timer. it is the quietest pump i have ever owned. i have the new 4000 and it is not near as quiet as the old syle.

i have taken mine completely apart. at least as far as i could. it all just slides apart. i could not see any obvious reasons why they would overheat or burn up. a shame, such a great pump.

i am thinking of trying the velocity pumps to see if they are as quiet. other than that i have no idea.

Geoff - same problem here. They seem to overheat, I take them apart and no blockage or buildup on the impeller. Factory has replaced one and I have one in for replacement right now. I think it is time to change to a more reliable pump for my application.
Recommendations?

if quiet is your concern, nothing in that pricerange i have seen. Velocity T pumps are suppose to be extremely quiet. they come in different ratings so i would start there.

With a T4 I will have to restrict the outflow. Is this going to cause heat and/or noise problems?

I had one burn-out on me after about 1-1/2 years. It was a silent pump but it was always a little too warm for my liking. I repaced it with a dolphin pond master-1200. I have had it for about 6 months now and I have no complaints. It is a little louder than the quiet one but with the fans on the lights and 2 other pumps running I don't notice it. I am hoping it will last longer than the q1. My return pumps are mag 7's. They seem to hold up well. I had to replace one after about 5 years with almost no maintenance. Every 6 months (give or take a month) I disassemble and clean them.
