thinking of upgrading(with my new employee discount)
well like i said in a previous post i got a job at That Fish Place. I want a larger tank, no offense to my Eclipse, and have been looking at this. What Do you guys think of it. It is a all in one 34g with 110w of PC lighting. I really want to go big again but not going to happen until we get a house. I dont need a 125g falling through the floor of my apartment. And I am sure not moving a 125g. Here is the link.

i like what i see. the lighting is 3.8wpg, the tank is only 29g the sump is 5g, but i think i would figure out some way to increase the lighting. it has a sump(back part of the tank) with filtration, heater space, and skimmer. Maybe its not the best skimmer but its a nano. I cant see any reason not to get it.

Save your money, didn't you say your getting a house soon? Put the $750 -discount towards a 125/180 w/ T5 or MH and you will be happier in the long run. If you spend that money now and still was a Larger tank when you move you may have to skimp a bit when building the larger tank. Just my $.02
Now if you dont want the large tank after you move that is a awesome tank albeit a bit low on lighting.

yea i am not to thrilled with the lighting. if i do get it i will have to do reearch into MH retro. But then again i have no plans to get into sps yet. I actually like the lps and soft better. Dont get me wrong sps is nice but by the time i read all abut it here im kinda scared. Sounds like all you do all day long is test, add additives, and test again. Not that im lazy but i would rather take 1 step at a time. I think 3.8 wpg is fine for lps with the proper rock work and coral placement. That tank and stand is 799 retail. I am not sure but i think i get 20% off. Thats 639 after the discount and thats about all i would need to buy. Buying a 56 or 60g reef ready would be about the same price but then i need a sump, skimmer, lights, heater, plumming, etc... Thats alot more then 639 alot more. Besides if i do that then i can sell me remora skimmer, current orbit light fixture, and heater. So 639 is more like 400 or less. Still a toss up though not feeling the lights

You would have to build a new canopy if you do a MH retro.
I have SPS and they are thriving. In my 75 I change 5g/week and test inbetween all I ever have to dose is CA and at time boost the DKh IMHO SPS require no more "work" then anyother corals. once I get heavily stocked with SPS I will rn a Ca reactor and do away with all the dosing

The JBJ 28 Hqi nano comes with a 150w metal halide and you can buy a 2 x 18w power compact add-on for $50 more

Why not get something like a 75G? It's a great size, you can do a sump/skimmer setup yourself, the lighting yourself, and when you move into your new house it will still be a viable size. Whenever you do want to upgrade to something bigger you can keep it as a Softie tank, since you enventually want your large tank to be SPS dominated.
