thin brown algae..newer tank

I have flat smooth brown/tan algae growing on my rocks. IS that due to the tank cycling? its only about a week old with cycled live rock and cycled bio balls. IS the brown algae due to nitrites or nitrates? thanks.

I think it is a collection of diatoms. What type of water are you using? Do you have a protein skimmer? Test the water and see what the parameters are.

yes it is because of a new tank i would let it run its pace. If you want you can shorten the light period but i would just leave it be. its very common and will go away in a few weeks
