there's a great reef magazine out now!!

Marine Fish and Reef USA's 2004 annual issue is out!!! Theres a really good article about sand beds and denitrification (you'd be surprised at what it has to say about where it occurs in the sand bed, how deep a bed you need, and what kind of sand is best for this purpose).

it also has another great article about pests in the marine aquarium. Havent heard of a cirolanid or a aegid? youll want to know what they are and how to keep them out of your tank!!

also there is an article on pathogens of corals, a clam article, one on basslets, lionfishes, triggers and filefishes, benthic communities in the reef aquarium, and more.

I really like it a lot and I think y'all would too (yeah I'm from Texas!), so I just wanted to share!!!

just read that article on sandbeds myself and thought of YOU Spanky!!! I think you would like the article. It states all you need for a sandbed is about 1-2 inches! All the nitrification, denitrification and sulpher processing occures darn near at the surface!

I think the good doctor wrote a different article in that magizine. Funny he didnt do the dsb article.....hmmmmmmm.

Dennis

PS: This magazine has the ad for the new Rio/Taam "Scio" pump/powerhead...anyone got ANY info on it???? Thanks!!!

Trying not to strangle Richard.

I'll try to get my hands on a copy, I do want to see what he has to say.

I have a feeling it's more of the same. These guys are busy changing as fast as they can right now and doing the same thing they did when DSB's started years ago. Stealing each others ideas and methods, and they still don't have a clue as to why they are doing things a certain way or even recommending the ways they are recommending.
