Chris, the lip is a great idea, and having a hoist on the light will give you good access, not sure how much space you have above the tank, would hinging the wall side of the lights give you more room to stand? Wow 300G wide, in your hands that will be amazing, good luck.

So the ceiling is close to (if not over) 10 feet, and the stand will be on the order of 40" high (it'll be only ~37 from the kitchen side for viewing, but there's a 3-4" step down into the garage). That should give me more than 6' of clearance, which is plenty, but I may consider putting the light hoist on a track to get it completely out of the way. That may be over-kill, though. Maybe I won't bother until it becomes a necessity.

If I could do anything to move my lights out of the way I would do it. Although a different set up, it would be so much easier if I could just have that little bit of additional space when working over the top. Perhaps the benefit would only equate to a few hours a year, but it sure would have been nice!
