man thats crazy big!! I was just thinking how easy it would be to lose count of your fish in that bad boy, I'd have to say it looks better than most actual reef pictures I have seen. Nice tank for sure

Hey tim- what lifts are you talking about? The racks for the rocks? if so they took about two weeks to build since I tore them apart about three times before I came upon a configuration I liked. I should take a few close-ups of the styrofoam rock work. I had Eric Borneman over and showed him the styrofoam rock and he couldn't tell the difference between the "fake" rock and the real rock placed around it even though it was only 12 inches away from him.
Ranran The skimmer is made by Spazz who is a regular contributing member here at TRT. His phone number is 612-387-7377. He's the best one to call with any questions. I know his skimmer uses a modified Dart pump and is supercharged with an Alita 80 airpump to get around 300 cfm which is pretty incredible considering it only uses 190 watts and is skimming over 100, maybe even 125 gallons in the main skimmer chamber. For comparison most "efficient" skimmers will pull a max of 48 cfm on 360 watts. The average size of the main chamber in these skimmers is usually only 12-48 gallons(dependent on the brand). So this VOLCANOE is doing about 6 times the work at half of the electrical consumption for similarly rated skimmers.
I guess I'm really impressed because the skimmer has saved my tank on two occasions. Once I put in 300 large mexican turbo snails(think golfball sized). All of them died within a day(shipping shock). The top to the skimmer literally blew off. I had to use a 5lb weight to hold it on. The bubbles were actually pushing the top completely off the skimmer and onto the floor. The tank never suffered any spikes although nearly 30 lbs of snails died at once.- ( I couldn't pull them out because they crawled into the rocks at the back of the tank and died.)

THAT is a VERY beautiful tank! I LOVE tangs, Blacks are my fovorite, one day I'd love to have a Gem Tang, they are tough to find and VERY expensive! THe Hybrid Tang is VERY fascinating to me. Think this is a SCopas X Yellow or Purple? Both Zebrasomas species......what do you all think???

We had a busy weekend at the tcmas. Mike Palleta, Steven Pro and Dr. George Batten flew in to do a speaking event. They stopped by after the conference before heading out. Mike Palleta has a 1200 gallon system and it was amazing how many things we have in common system wise. He runs Vodka on his tank and I run sugar (same difference). Lighting configurations are the same as well as to many other components to list. Pretty cool to be able to compare notes with another large tank owner. Mike says he knows of about 5 other larger reefs in the US. I thought there were more than that.

Tops of the monti caps. Colony started about the size of a nickel. It has been fragged in half at least once and is still the size of a basketball.[IMG][/IMG]
