The Reef Store...

After a few people were nice enough to invite me to be a guest at the next Atlanta reef club meeting I went to their site. I found link for a shop called the Reef Store, I had never heard of them and tried calling them today but could not get through to Atlanta, lines must be down somewhere. Does anyone know if they are still in business and if it's worth a 2 hour trip to go there? I enjoy checking out different places and seeing what I can find and who I can meet. I also assumed that since they had a link on the Atlanta Reef clubs site that they could tell me more about the club. I'm off on Tuesdays and it's a good day for me to take road trips. Thanks for any info and help.

Hi cyberchef.

The Reef Store is out of business. I recommend Aquarium Showcase in Alpharetta. They are closed on Sunday and Monday though. If you need any more info about the club just ask away.

Sorry to hear that, it would have made for a nice day trip. I currently go to "The Fish Garden", in Newnan, they are a new store. They have some really great prices as well as a very nice selection. I also go to 2 LFS, 1 in Columbus and 1 in Phenix City. Other than that, the one other store I've been to in Atlanta is "The Fish Store and More".
How long do the meetings last (approximately) and what do you do or talk about? It may sound like a stupid question but I used to breed parrots and I know how those meetings (at 3 different clubs) used to go which was why I stopped going to the meetings. lol I was just looking to find out general information since I would be coming from Columbus (approx 2 hours away). Thanks.

Also, about the "The Fish Garden", the owner seems very knowledgable and their livestock as well as their corals seem very healthy. The original person who told me about them said the owner was a marine biologist although I keep forgetting to confirm this myself. So far it's the only FS I've ever been to that didn't have at least 1 dead fish in 1 of the tanks.

There is another place in ATL called The Fish Store that is pretty good. They are located on Peachtree St. up in Buckhead -- not toooo far from Lenox Mall. They are a pretty neat store to go into and I found the people there to be good to work with. Of course, the last time that I dealt with them was a couple years ago.

Their web page is: http://www.thefishstore.com

According to the web page, they are closed on Tuesdays to restock.

the Fish garden is off of 85 at exit 47 (newnan) about 2 miles east of the highway on the north side of the road. When you get off of 85 there is are 2 shopping centers (one on each side of the road) with Lowes, Altlanta bread co, petsmart, etc. Just keep going past all of this and he's about 1 1/2 miles past it on the north side of the road. It's an old house that's been coverted. Where is Pices Pets, I don't know where the 138 spur is?

Here's the link for the Atlanta Reef Club

I haven't seen the agenda for the meeting so I don't really know what's going on. I do know that they plan to do a sand swap. The President is Bob Lemcke. You can e-mail him for more meeting info: Bob.Lemcke@wachovia.com
The meeting will be at the home of a local reefer and he has an awesome setup. Well worth the drive.

I'll drop him an email, thanks. I would assume a sand swap is where everyone brings sand and swaps it? lol Not sure if my system is old enough for the sand to be worth swapping. I just saw what I believe are the first bristle worms up along the front of the glass the other day. I don't know how big they get but these are less than 1/2".
