my bulkheads for the CLS inputs and the drain for the sump are located near the top of the tank.
the coast to coast overflow is just attached using silly cone. healthy portions of it on each side of the acrylic pieces. since the overflow is not under any pressure the silly cone will hold.
i think i would have liked to move the drain for the sump much lower. harder to get it quiet with it near the top.

here is a recent pic with the new pendant i made FINALLY over it.
OK, here is an update, while i am at it. i have replaced my Velocity T3 return pump for a PCX-70. the tank is no longer silent. i have not had time to put a lot of effort into getting it silent yet, but is a lot harder keeping 1000gph of overflow compared to 500gph of flow.
apparantly when i replaced the pump i messed up the bulkhead on the sump, so now it is leaking. a good solid leak also. unfortunately because of the location of the bulkhead i have to take the sump out in order to fix the leak. i guess now is as good a time as any to see if i can get my settling tank setup.
this leak has played havoc with my salinity until i discovered it so i have had some corals go belly up on me. i have it under controll now, but of course it did happen on the one day i decided to add just a touch of kalk to the kalkreactor (normally it is empty) so the pH also when bonkers because more top off water was added than normal. once again another reason why a few of the corals went belly up.
i will see about getting everything fitted and kinda setup so that this weekend i can fix the sump.

Looks great ~G!
Sorry about the losses...and the PITA that is in your future.
But when it's all fixed, MAN is it gonna look nice!
(since it does already!)

well i had to tighten up the bulkhead tonight. it was leaking like crazy. have no idea how it got so loose. it was barely on. no wonder i was loosing a few gallons a day to the basement.
did not have time or the man power to actually put the settling tank in though. will have to fight with that another time.

Sweet Geoff, this is the first time I hve seen it with water in it!
What are the bars in the tank? is that a grill behind the tank?

here is a way overdue update on the tank. everything is in total maintenance mode. i only do a 10g water changes once a week. i feed 2 cubes a day. empty about a gallon of skimmate a day. add some kalk to the reactor if the pH drops below 8.1. i have been super busy at home so it is great to not have to worry about the tank at all.
the biggest problem i have now is Aiptasia. not sure where they came from, but i sure do have plenty of them. luckily the corals are stronger than the aiptasia, so i am not super concerned. when i have more time i will start joeing them and Peping them. they are starting to really take over though, so it may be sooner than later.
here are some pics for those who need them.
my orange cap. getting good growth now.
a pic of my criniod and a branching acro.
one of my blue torts, these are wicked slow growers.
one of the purple caps, nice aiptasia, eh.
shot of the squammie and the crinoid.
one of the tricolours and an encrusting montipora. when they touch the acro wins.
a pic of my biggest Tricolour.
i will try and get a FTS at some point. my camera does not do so well taking pics of a 6' tank.

Geoff, the tank setup is beautiful and those updated coral pics show that it's working great!
When I had Aips, I tried Stop-Aiptasia and Joe's Juice but the Lysmata wurdemanni were the real Aip killers. Sad thing was that when the Aips were gone, the shrimp faded away.

Thanks Dick, i am glad it is finally in let it grow mode.
does anybody know how to find large peps? the tiny LFS ones i have a feeling will just be fish food. i need some decent sized ones to cope with the flow and not get sucked into the CLS pumps.

Geoff, talk me into taking a trimp down to Myrtle or Sunset Beach, we can net them around the pilings this far north still... or we can do a road trip nd bait some traps for them, but we'll have to sort them out from the crabs
