Just as an aside, to get the backup board in place for the drilling (inside pane of glass), i take s scissor jack and place it on top of a thick piece of plywood, then jack it just enough to hold a second piece of plywood against the pane you are drilling, and use a pair of additional stand-off 2x4 blocks to allow the guide bit to come through the plywood without striking the top of the scissor jack. A small jack will do, it only needs enough pressure to hold the wood in place to prevent the spin yet still stop chipping on the glass. The last time I did it I made sure that the piece of wood went all the way to the bottom of the tank so the side would help prevent any spin when the hole bit went through the glass. If I had to do it again, I would use the vertical drill press/stand instead of a hand-held drill, you can controll the diamond hole saw better as well as dial in the perfect speed, building a dam around the hole with modeling clay to hold the water and abrasive in place.

I'm getting anxious to see this bad boy in action!

Did you use the 13 dollar bit to drill the holes?

yep, worked like a charm. just let the drill do the work. this is really important when dealing with glass. pretty much just let the weight of the drill do the drilling.

Zac- at least the shots were done on different days. i actually need to get another pair of work clothes. my died in Ireland.

i have a system now for getting the pics up, so i can get them up in just minutes. if i did not than i would forget and get yelled at by all of these pic piranhas.

here is an ebay search for diamond hole saw. all of the ones from Hong Kong are from the guy i bought mine from. i bought a 42mm and a 70mm. i had to look up the correct size from the place i bought the bulkhead from. then convert it to mm.

hard to tell. i still need to pick up some cutting board material to bolster up the thickness of the faux SB. at over $100 a half inch it gets expensive. i will use a lower layer of HDPE so i can get the SB up to the level i want. then i have to epoxy the LR together. i will be doing this in sections so that it can come out fairly easily. do not want to be trying to lift the tank with all of the SB and LR epoxied in there. then there is the final plumbing.

prolly in a couple of weeks. this weekend is shot. there seems to be a beer game on on Sunday.
