This is a great thread! Very interesting. I believe work like this, by hobbyists, is our best chance of new discoveries and a better understanding of how to care for our animals. Thanks for sharing your experiment with us. I will be fallowing this thread.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. This was the main reason for documenting what I am observing with my tank. I only wish I could make the amount of PO4 quantitative. I think this would make this thread more substantial and less ancedotal. The problem is that the PO4 levels have been zero on two different test kits (one being a Salifert Kit). I would love to have a Hanna Phospahte Photometer to measure PO4 levels with, but unfortunately I don't have the cash at the moment.

The findings to date:
8/18/2007 - Reactor Hooked up and running with 20 grams of Phosban
8/27 - Accelerated growth noted in purple and green monti caps, new growth tip noted on Blue tort, and three new grwoth tips noted on separate acro colony. Green film algae growth rate has decreased to 4-5 days before needing to clean glass.
8/31 - Yellow scroll coral now appears a more pastel than dark yellow. Good polyp extension remains, no evidence of tissue recession.
9/6 - The growth rate of the film algae has returned to previous rates. I am now needing to clean the front glass every 2-3 days. The size of the growth rims of the monti caps has decreased in size as well. Growth tips of the Blue tort remain. My crocea clam in closed more than usual.
9/8 - Clam is back open. Reactor not turned off.

So far, a definite difference is noted with the posban reactor. After 19 days of use the first noticable sign of growth slowing down in a few coral species and film algae growth increasing is seen on 9/6. No detrimental effects with tissue necrosis, bleaching, or ill effects on my clam noted. My clam was closed for a brief period for one day. But reopened without changes made to the system. I believe this may have been due to nipping by my foxface.
