The coral banded shrimp problem MIGHT be solved?

I remember back when this CBS was part of a different tank... it never attacked the fish... mostly because it had to deal with another CBS.

Well... today, I found what the LFS called a "ghost shrimp," a lot like an albino CBS... and it was the same size as the one in my tank... so I got him and I expect him to either take out the other CBS or wear him out to a point where he won't attack other fish.. or wear him out so I can get him easily and then hang him so that all the fish can gather around and clap as they watch him die for all the misery he caused the tank.

...but I digress...

Anyway, here's "bea" and "elle..."

I like it, too... just wish I had a better camera at the time.

Well... it appears that the problem is solved...

Today, I brought in a yellow tang (my wife's been on my case about getting one for about a month now) and watched to see what would happen...

Of course, within a minute, it swam to the one place I didn't want it to go... the new place that the CBS calls "home."

I waited for the CBS to attack... but it only slowly extended its claws this time. The Tang kept in close quarters to it and as it started to move off, the CBS reached out and held one of its fins... not grabbed, not jabbed, not stabbed...

held.

A minute later, the tang came back and turned broadside to it as if it would to a cleaner shrimp... and the CBS worked its claws very gently around the fish!

Now don't get me wrong... I'd love to think that the ghost shrimp layething the smacketh down on his arse had something to do with it and that he learned a lesson from it... but are they *that* smart???

hmmmm.......
