The Beast

anyone ever try/or use this skimmer?

The Beast's multi-chamber, multi-pass, venturi design totally "devours" dissolved organics in your tank for sparkling clear water! It's unusually low profile also allows convenient placement under almost any stand, and the output returns directly into your wet/dry's sump. The Beast's massive size tackles up to a hefty 300 gallons, and it runs best with a 500-700 g.p.h. water pump (not included). 51/4" dia. x 23" H.
Mfgr: D & D Marine Enterprises

Thanks

Tony

i had a friend who was given one and he pretty much did not like it. It was runing on a Mag7 and he never gt fine skimate out of it. Skkmate was always alittle to wet in consistancy if you ask me. For the 149.00 they are asking I would sace up and get a ETS. I do not product endorse, but I believe in the old measure twice cut once methods to doing things. If you plan on having a reef tank that is well stock. Tehn a effecient skimmer should be high on your list. I think ETS has established themselves really well in this hobby. There are many other skimmers such as Euroreef, AquaC, Lifereef. I just think bang for the buck ETS and AquaC take it. It really comes down to your set-up how big is the tank? what do you plan on having in the tank? I just think you'll somewhere down the line move up in skimmers almost everyone does it so why not just buy the one you want first and save yourself a $149 lose if you where to pick up the Beast. Just one little point when they say designed to handle a 300 yes it can handle a 300 with a 2 times turn over rate. I have yet to keep a skimmer at lower then a 3 times turnover( i shoot for 4 or 5 due to excessive feeding on my part) rate. If the Beast were to truely clean a 300 I suppose it would need at the least a mag 9.5 or 12 for that matter.Hope i was helpful.
