That was a lot of work
That was a lot of work. I took all my rock out today and cleaned off the long hair algae. Then I restacked it. Of course now it is different, but I like it, and I can clean all around it which I couldn't do before. Now I can see under all the rock so I should be able to keep all the junk out from under them. I think the lawnmower blenny likes it better.(More places to hide) I've noticed the back of the tank is really green. How can I clean it and not spread the stuff. There are things on the glass like little stationary spiders too. I saw someones post that said they were apistacia? or some bad kind of anemone. They are just so tiny I don't know how to get them out.

Congrats on all the work......I have done that a few times within the past month. I plan on doing it again this weekend. I did that to all of my snails tonight.

I did that to 2 tanks last summer
I enlisted the help of a fellow reefer and it took 6 hours
any before/after pics?
IMO, the tank always looks better the second/third time you do it

Here's a picture of Aptasia, (aka Rock Anenome). Hopefully that's not what you have, even though you will at some point if you buy rock or frags attached to rock. They're a real pain because they spread like weeds and are hard to kill without harming other tank occupants if they're close by. Do a search on this site for Aptasia and you'll get lots of good info which you'll eventually need anyway.
For the hair algae on the back wall I have used a canister filter and a razor blade. Hold the suction tube right next to the razor as you scrape so it doesn't spread. If that is Aptasia on the back wall, this should work on them, but it might just spread them depending on how good your filter is. Good luck.

I will agree to that 100% My tank had tons of HA and cyano all over it back at the beginning of Jan. I started talkin to Casey here on TRT he has helped me get onto a weekly mainanence to keep my tank looking awesome. I have cleaned all my rock twice now like that. And like i said i plan on doing that again this weekend if my back is feeling up to it.

I have a DSB, and I hope I don't have to do it again. I hope my new lawnmower blenny get to work and takes care of it, and I get my water right. I'll do new water test in the morning. What about the back wall? Any ideas for me to try, or just let the blenny go to work.
My sweetie is on the computer with all my pics, but I'll be sure and post some in the morning if not sooner. I'm on the kids computer.

you say the back is green. Is it hairalge on the back? or just algae?
if it's hair...I'd try Cuda's idea. If you don't have a canister...maybe get your honey to help you when you do your next water change, and hold the syphon tube in place while you scrape.
If it's just regular algae...I'd just leave it. But that's a personal preference.

I agree.....It wont hurt to scrap it or not. I scrap mine once a month. When ever i do this my skimmer goes like crazy and pulls about 2 cups in 4 hours or some nasty looking stuff.
