th nasty skimer topic

I know tis is old news for most ,but i am just getting staterd on my reef and have been useing my old under gravel fillters. wich are not doing the job. i stoped at thelfs tonight to look at skimers its worse then buying a new car.the price on the air stone style seemed god but i was most impressed with the way the pump driven venturie modles looked. teh 6 inch colums on these models seemed like they would do a beter job and were much easyer to adjust. any info would be greatly helpfull before i go spen the mony on what seems to be the biggest functioning part of this new reef.

Brent for a 75g tank suggestions range from the Red Sea Berlin, Turboflotor1000, Sipedon Maelstrom100, AquaC Remora, ETS Reef Devil.
They range in price from around $150 on sale and go up from there. The smaller CPR BakPak, Knop and clones, Seaclones and Skilters as well as many non name brand units may not perform satifactorily and you may wind up replacing them. You dont have to spend a fortune but you generally get what you pay for. HTH
