Temperature Issue

My tank just reached 86 degrees today. Everything seems ok but Im just concerned cause it does seem high. It drops to 80 degrees at night. I cant afford a chiller right now so Im using fans to battle the heat. Do you guys think I'm ok with this temperature?

No,.. 86 is dangrousally close to bleaching temprature if it keeps up. Can you get more fans blowing on the water? Vent the canopy better? Your not using a glass top are you?

Can you tell us some about your tank setup?

I have a 40 gallon open top tank. Tank has been up 3 months now and all parameters read 0, except for nitrate which shows it at 2. Great corraline growth on the back glass, all powerheads are covered already. I have about 5 powerheads in the tank. I dont have a sump or protein skimmer but Im doing 25% water changes weekly. For fish, I have a sixline wrasse, Gold Stripe Clown, firefish, and diamond goby. For corals I have yellow polyps, zooanthids, GSP, Kenya Tree Coral, Torch, Green Clove Polyps, Red Brain and a Toadstool Leather. For cleaners I have 3 turbos, 6 astrea, and 6 ceriths. Ive been running a canister filter since the start but have been changing media and pads every two weeks.

Can you get more fans blowing on the surface of the water? Can you cool your house down a bit? Can you lower humidity in your house?

I found mine at Frys food store during the summer, but walmart and stores like it usually carry them,.. my 50 uses one to keep the temp down to 78.
