I am not so sure that it might not be the more cost effective solution as well. The chillers work by dumping the waste heat into your room, raising the timp in that room. This increases both air temp and usually the humidity, as the warmer air has more capacity for carrying water. Your house unit them must remove this heat to the outdoors. By using this pair of heat pumps (tank chiller and house unit) rather than just a central air unit, you add the extra electricity and heat of running the chiller, creating the extra heat load associated with just running the chiller. This also drops the comfort level in your fish room. Personally, I am one that enjoys a cool (cold ) room when the air outside is 95F+ and 100% humidity, so it would be a no-brainer to run the air a little on the cool side. For me it is definitely better to cool the room down rather than just letting the fishes enjoy the extra refrigeration. I am using both dehumidifiers and central air (separate dedicated heat pump for the Walnut Grove Seaquarum) to keep this wing of the house cool and dry, so although it's prolly not the cheapest way to keep the tanks under 82F, it DOES have the added benefit of cooling the entire wing of the house.
Maybe I should extend the ductwork and a return into the garage...

I shoot for 80.5 all the time. I use a Digital Aquatics Reefkeeper, and keep the AC on in the house (in the summer) as much as my wife will let me.
Here is how I have the DA reefkeeper set:
Heater on: 80.5
Sump Fan on: 81.0
Sump Fan off: 80.7

Tell me about it. I don't know what the temp got in my prop tank in the garage, but when I noticed the dead fish, I stuck my hand in and jerked it back out it was so hot. Amazingly, the zoanthids survived, but not the ricordia or mushrooms (Awwwwwww.....)
I run my main display at 79-80 through the use of a fan blowing on the surface of the overflow and an AC set at 74.

Heh!
If I had fish out there, it would already be done, I just want to be able to work on the car and do my carpentry work in some similance of comfort, really hacks me off to be finishing the surface of some nice wooden project and have a drop of sweat ruin the finish on a 22 hour project...
I don't think I want the fumes from out there coming back through the return vents though, usually gas or paint fumes, or varnish or the stained glass work soldering (although I am venting THAT to the outside off the work area)

Window shaker might be better for the garage, besides, I don't need it all the time out there and I'd rather not cool the entire neighboorhood

You must live out in the country Tom. Unfortunately I am not allowed to have a window unit on my house in this "fancy" neighborhood!

My tank stays around 81.5F-82.5F I want to make it around 79-80 as much as possible but working for my dad full-time doesn't let me keep an eye out for my tank or let me to do the frozen liter bottles. My other siblings are house hermits yet all they do is go on the computer/watch tv/ and play video games with no intentions of helping me out.

I have my tank in the basement and it is cooler and the A?/C is set at 70-75 during the hot days and the basement is reall cool. I have had no heat related issues this year . tank 78 to 79 maybe 80 a few times, My wife want me to get a chiller. but I really don't want to put out the money. and have more noise and then add heat in the family room .
