Cant help you on this, but do what I do, call Marine Depot and ask them. They are pretty good.

I've used the TradeWind single stage controller, and liked it. Handles something like 15 amps and has controls for a heater and a chiller. Only brand I've tried so I can't compare it to any others

why do you need another temp controller instead of the controller that is in the heater?

I agree with Geoff. My titanium has a seperat probe to tell when it should turn off and the cheeper ones have one built in.The cheep ones will keep the temp +- 3 to 5 deg and mine keeps it +- .1 to .4 deg in temp.

I don't have the titanium heater anymore. It was unreliable, then died (in the off position, thank god). I got a Jaeger. But I don't trust it either. Should I?

i'm a big fan of the ranco single stage temp controllers...you can pick them up on ebay or from an electrical supply place (grainger). there is some simple wiring to do but you'll usually save >$50 vs the identical "aqualogic" unit.

i use one now and my temperature control is much better.

Ebo-Jager's rock!! i have had three of them. one of them is over 15yrs old and have never had a problem with it. i use it for heating up my make up water, but have let others borrow it and they have never had a problem with it. i do not see any reason to use anything else but an Ebo-Jager. they may be fairly inexpensive, but they are worth every penny!
the now ones are great because you actually set the temp. my 15yr old Ebo was gradiated with only numbers. that was rather annoying, but once set it never deviated by more than a degree!

Thanks buddy! Isn't it just hot, neutral and ground? Or is it more complicated than that?

My titanium is a WON (none digital(herd they have problems with digital))The analog is very accurate and has like a reostate that when it calls for heat it starts out at maybe 25watts then go higher till it,s hot enough, not go on at full 400w.And the probe is on a 6 or 8' cord to place any where. My tank flukesulates + or - .3 deg!

I have a won digital, never had issues with it, like it, but don't like how easy it is to accidentally bump the control knob and mess the tank temp up.
