Tell me the best place

Anyone please tell me the best place to buy snails. I need some to clean my sand bed and keep it all stired up. I have to pay $2.00 a piece for them at our LFS. I need to get about 30 snails.

Check out Premium Aquatics and see if they are still carrying Nassarius snails, they are good for that, they burrow in the sand and eat left overs, when food hits the water they will pop out of the sand in mass like zombies in a grade B horror movie, its really kewl

Here are these:

and Nasarius (supposedly)

http://cgi.ebay.com/100-NEW-LIVE-Alg...QQcmdZViewItem

and these:I bought these before and they burrowed and did a good job and never had any issues. Cheap and worked ok. Probably not the best but hey they didn't hurt anything!

so the last bunch of snails dug under your sand? That is what I want them to do. I think I will give them a try, I've already placed a bid.
Any other ideas let me know.

Soo....do they ship these snails overnight? How can they do it free?

Did you have any dead ones? How did you know which ones? If you ordered 100 or so, they probably all smelled dead by the time they got to your house...

Just wondering...

I think he just did USPS priority.......2 days.

The guy I ordered em from wouldalways add extras in case of loss.

So I think I orderd 100 and he may have shipped 110. How many survived??? I really didn't botehr to waste my time tocount. At $20 shipped how can you go wrong if you only get 80 iut of 100?

Yes that is too why I bought them. I just wanted something to burrow and mix up substrate. They usually would burrow during the day and when they smelled food out they'd pop!

110...
I am not really worried about the number I get alive as much as I am worried about putting dead snails in the tank. Did you just dump the lot in and whatever was alive was alive?

Thanks,
Frank

I acclimated them and dumped them all in........snails may act dead for awhile from shock....so they say.

I wasn't to worried about a few dead ones, as I figured they'd just make food for my cleaners and new homes for whatever crab may want it!

These are little and a few dead ones shouldn't affect your tank unless it is a very small tank.....but you won't be buying 100 snails for 10 gallon tank.

So either way a few dead ones and you should be fine.
