Teardrop Maxima Clam Leap

A friend gave me a brownish Clam He said it was a Teardrop Maxima. I put it about 1/3 off the bottom in my rocks (Tank is 24' x 24" x 72") He stayed put for 2 days and this morning I found him on the bottom in a portion of my tank that has no sand. I have four 250w 14k MH. Should I leave him there? See where he travels? or put him back in the rocks? or on the sandy portion of the bottom?

Can You post a picture? I say if he won't stay on the rock place it on the sand portion, I really don't think it matters,

Here is the photo, please excuse the messy bottom I am slowly removing all the sand. Is it ok for him to lean on the rocks? Don't they have a foot to help them move and stay upright?

I also got this piece of Xenia. I am keeping my fingers crossed I have never had any survive, this one os doing very good so far.... 3 days

Definately is a teardrop maxima and they do have a large byssal gland to attach to the rock. Even if you were going to leave it on the bottom; which with your lighting and tank won't be a proble, I would personally still put a rock or shell under it for it to attach to instead of your tank bottom. This will make it easy to move later should you want to or need to.
