TDS Readings

Finally got myself a 50gpd 4 stage Ro-di unit after 7 mths of buying water Jeez its slow!! I'm only just in the feed pressure requirements at 50psi and my water temp. is 48 degrees , going by the conversion chart i'm getting about 38 gpd

I also got a handheld tds meter and checked my tap/ lfs water that i was buying.
My tap water came out at 390ppm and my lfs water at 8ppm

Obviously zero is the key figure here but whats acceptable?? is 8ppm too much and should my 4 stage ro-di unit give better results? i've got to dump the first 5 gallons so not tested yet.

The RO/DI unit should come out at 0ppm personaly i think anything over 0ppm is to high. Who makes your RO/DI?

My unit's from a UK company, one of the best apparently

Like i said i've still not tested my ro-di water as i've got to trash the first 5 gallons, something to do with cleaning the liquid that the ro filter was packaged with

I just wondered what the tds should be, my tap water is 390, my lfs ro was 8, lets hope i can get zero

Wow your tap water is horrid. Mine is 180 TDS. When I first got my filter it was slow then the speed picked up after the membrane and filters were fully saturated. Mine is still abit slow but I am only reading 30PSI plus it is cold. Do you have away to test the filtered water after the membrane (before the DI). After my membrane my water tests at 8TDS. The DI takes it down to 0. The highest I would want to put in my tank is 3TDS at a very max but, I spoil my tank.

I get 135.

My filtered water is 0ppm; I let it go up to 3ppm before I replace the DI cartridge.

if your TDS doesn't go down after running it for a day or so then you may need to re-check the seal of the RO cartridge. if they don't seal right then you will get some tap water coming through.

Ro-Di unit running for a couple of days now and heres the readings -

Feed water - 390ppm TDS
After Ro filter(before Di) - 11ppm TDS
After Ro-Di - 0ppm TDS

Glad i invested a few more ££ with a Di unit
