TDS meters

Are all TDS meters the same? My Mother got a water filter, it looks alot like a "Brita" its called a zerooo filter or something. Anyhow, its got a removable TDS meter biult into it. I couldn't believe it when we tested the water and it was zero. I also tested the tap water, it was at 88 and I tested their Brita filter and that was at 97.

Can that TDS meter be trusted?

in the link is that the tds meter you are talking about?
if so it's the same meter i got with my air water ice rodi except mine has the temperature and it's gray. it works fine.

How big is the filter? From the link I am guesing its a DI filter probably with a GAC filter also. It says it gets 25-40 gallons of water from 50-200 TDS water. I think are DI canisters are probably about the same. But they have much lower TDS coming in after going through the RO unit. So thats why they last 6 months or so. That would be my guess.

I didn't get to see the actual filter by itself. But, its got to be small.

My dad who is 65 was complaining about how long it takes for the water to pass thru the filter.

On that link they have a picture of it next to the other types. Its a bit bigger, and they have a cross section that shows the inside. It looks like GAC on top and some kind of ion exchange resin does the rest. So I'm guessing it works like a DI (maybe not exactly but similar). Seems like a good idea.
