Question

tanks to HOT

i set my 24 gal aqua pod up friday night and transfered every thing i was keeping from my 65 gal. yesterday morning . all went well and i got a pretty good store credit for all my live stock that i wasnt keeping . only a few hours after i set every thing up all looked great . today i noticed things didnt look so "hot" well it turned out that was my problem . my tank was at 85 degrees and i dont know why. has anyone else had this problem with their closed top aqua pods , nano cubes, or bio cubes. my system is the 64 watt pc's and the fan is working fine . i unplugged my heater which is my"stealth" heater from my 65 gal. which was set for 75 degrees may its to big but its what i have for now. someone please tell me that this is not a common problem with these systems . once my problem is solved ill get you some pics

The thermostat would kick off so it isnt to big. Mabey the thermostat is stuck. Or becuse it is closed it builds up heat, I had to add fans to myne. Or the room temp is hot the tanks min temp will be room temp without a cooler. Also other things running in the tank like skimmmers pumps ect will genrate a small amount of heat in the tank.

well i know its not the room temp i keep my house at 68 degrees . i turned off the heater so ill see if that does it . when you say you added a fan to your tank is there an extra fan you can buy for them (aqua pod) ? my set up only came with the one fan which is working great but the lid does have an extra hole next to the other fan port that i may be able to add another fan to.

Go to radio-shack, get an 110 A.C. fan and a cord. Then plug it in with the light timer (or contusly in the wall if still hot). Try to have it keep the lights and the water surface cool at the same time. Make sure the air has exit points. Make the fan blow INTO the lights and tank not OUT of the tank. (Its more effcint into the tank, and it keeps the salt water mist out of it. It will run you 10 -20 bucks for it all.

Also that other port mabey where the air gets pushed or pulled into, if you put a fan in their make sure the air can go some where. (Like make vents on the ends) And make sure the fans are facing the same way, (either both suck in or blow out)

The pods and cubes do get hot. Running fans over the water should do the trick but be prepared for evaporation. It is completely normal just top of with fresh water.
