you want glass or acrylic?
glass you may be able to get from a local LFS, but once you start getting to the larger acrylic tanks a more direct buy should save you money.

you want a 70 bow tank?

Agreed - if you pay shipping, all your savings go up in smoke. Best if you can pick it up or special order from a LFS. Glasscages.com has some nice custom tanks and several pick up locations.

I got a 150 acrylic, very well made and shipped for less than $900. Id say thats a decent price. It was direct from the maker.

Buy used. You will most likely be able to pick up some of the other equipment and stands, etc you'll need in a similar manner at a much lower cost than new/retail.

I agree with everyone... almost.

Start by looking for a used tank. then go to the LFS if you want a glass tank. If you want acrylic then do a search for the major brands. One of my favs is www.tenecor.com
