Most everything Eheim makes is awesome. More effecient pumps will make a huge difference.

Hey all
I got some fans from work today....i made a 4 fan grid - they are 80 mm pc fans and they are blowing at my refugium at a 45 degree angle. I am concerned that they will cause the tank to get too low now
I have a heater in there set to 79 degrees, so I would think that would over power the fans. I also have my pumps running (the original ones that I think are making the water hotter then need be) and the canister filter running as well. The house is 75 degees.
Does anyone know of a cheap temp switch I can use that has an adjustable setpoint an a small reset point? The ones I fould with a quick search have about a 5 or 6 degree reset.
Tanks,

Hiya,
Ive got the temp to stay between about 80 and 83, but I would like to keep it lower since the house is usually about 75. I have 7 fans at 45 degree angles to the sump water, 2 "vent" fans that dont point towards the water in the stand and 3 "vent" fans in the canopy. The fans are 80mm PC Fans - running at 12Vdc.
I think my lights are too close to the water....
The two 150W DE Halides are less then 4" from the glass covers to the water. I can get about 2 more inches if I do some heay mods to the canopy. This will also allow me to put some more fans in the canopy at 45 degrees to the water.
I think part of the problem is that my space is so small in the canopy, and my fans dont blow under the halides, but kinda against the sides of them...
Thoughts? Worth the time and effort?
Thanks!

A/c
Currently the A/c in the house is between 75 and 78 depending on who is home. When the MH lights are off the tank temp equals the house temp. when the lights turn on the tank will warm to about 83 with out the chiller running. the 1/5 horse runs and keeps the tank at the set temp of 76-78.
there is one 240 gallon quiet one pump that is internal
two gen x 4 external pumps. one is the return and one runs the water through the chiller and then the skimmer.

Here's what I would try first.. have 2 fans blowing out and 1 blowing in. Also, you said you have fans on the sump right? Try them in the canopy blowing on the water. FWIW, i use to use 80mm, but found that 120mm fans worked a lot better. You may need to step up to 120mm fans. The ones I used are from Tiger Direct and are listed as Stealth fans. Also, your lights seem about right as far as distance fromt he water, don't really see any issues there, that is about how mine are on the 135

Thanks Tony,
Ill reverse the fans....NOW...The light cylce is starting so now is the time. I dont think think I have room in the canopy for the fans...another reason I was thinking of moving the lights up.
Ill let you know how this first step goes.

Yeah let me know. Also, if you step up on the fans, you will also probably only need a couple of them instead of 4 or five. I had to use several 80mm fans just to keep my tank less than 86* at one point. I stepped up to 120's and only use a pair of them now to maintain the temp betweeen 80 and 83.. I'm sure I could keep it cooler if I wanted to

my chiller is set at 80, and with out my heater my tank was reaching 77 at night.... was getting up in the 90s during the day with my ac set at 75, but thats my fault for having my light very close to waters surface.
but with house at 75 chiller at 80 and heater at 79 i stay at 80 at night 81 82 during the day, also due to my chiller being on the small side i have a fan goin 24/7 to help achieve this
