Tank Swap - 55g into 58g

I am in the process of moving everything from my 55 to a 58 Reef Ready Oceanic tank with 20 long sump. providing I use some of the old water and get the SG, PH and temp the same.. should there be much of a cycle? I am going to run the 58 BB also.. I have SSB in the 55 currently.. but decided to try running Bare Bottom. I have a couple different Zoas and a mushroom in my 55 now.. will these survive the move?

Everything should be fine. There will be some slight die off from pulling the rocks from the sandbed, but it should be negligible and not enough to cause any kiund of cycle to be concerned with. You are fine salvaging water up until the point that you distrurb the sandbed, at that point trash the rest.

Good luck.

To be sure, I dont know about your DIY rock........soem of that needs soaked in several batches of RO/DI water before it is ok to use...........so double check that part.

The move will go good, get the salt water in the 58 mixed and the temp the same, Run it a day and then add the rock and some water from your tank, place the corals in, I do it all the time.

? on the DIY rock
how long has it been curing
that's the only thing that I would be worried about

there's another thread where not enough time was given for the rock to fully cure

other than that, all should be smooth sailing, with minimal to no cycle

I am not sure on the DIY rock.. I got it with the 58 gallon.. I took most of the DIY rock back out.. gonna try it with what I have now..

I have everything moved.. I let the 58 stabilize overnight and most of today.. then made sure temp and everything was the same as my 55. so far everything is looking good.. fish are happily swimming around.. and the corals are opening up.. so I will see what happens over the next few days.. thanks for the replies.
