Question

Tank Stocking Questions

Hi all,

Ive just cycled the tank and was thinking about getting a clean up crew. The tank is a 100 gallon with about 100 pounds of live rock. Now what I dont know is what creatures do I get, how do I feed them and how many should I get. I was thinkin along the lines of 3 shrimp, 3 crabs, 20 snails and others??? Maybe more i dont mind. The tank is gonna be a reef tank so reef safe stuff I think and its is also bare bottom. Another question is i want an anemone further down the track for 2 occelaris clowns. what type of anemone do i get?

Thanks in advance..... I hope

Adam

I would stay away from the crab - some have been known to pick/eat some of the soft corals. Get a mix of snails - narcious (sp) these bury themselves in the sand and help to sift the sand bed - a little. A rose BTA would be good but only after 6 months or more. It has always been reconmended to wait at least 6 months or more before getting an anoemone.

you want to add the cleanup crew when you got something for them to cleanup. They will clean very quickly. I added snails, hermits (red and blue legged), 3 bumble Bees snails and one emerald crab. Also make sure you add with them some empty shells so they dont kill each other for shells.

Also have two sea urchins.

I'm monitoring my scarlet hermit crabs closely and had to take one out since he's liking my starbust polyps very much.
