Question

Tank Setup

Hi all, im planning on starting a sutup thread for a new tank i am building, but before I start I have a question. The tank I wish to have will be a 240 gallon display tank. What are suitable dimensions for a tank of this gallonage. I would like the tank to be designed around easy maintenance. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I would decide what size tank you want then figure out the gallon amount with the calculator on RC

For ease of maintenance and good light to corals on the bottom of the tank I would not go above 24 inches tall. I would love to have a tank with the measurements 6 foot long 30 inches deep 24 inches tall. You could light that with 3 XM10K bulbs in lumanark reflectors and have plenty of light everywhere and save a ton on power over the 400W bulbs required to penatrate deeper.

I agree with not going over 24 tall. The 30 inches deep also would be nice as the more space between the front and back the better your options for aqua scaping. Too deep and you wont be able to reach stuff. So, that leaves the length to decide!

the height and width look good. As for length the sky is the limit i guess. Whats a good size. Bearing in mind i like tangs.
