Tank Picture

Thought some of you might like to see my box of water. It is modled after a Tonga reef. All corals are from there. It has been up 8 months and is skimmerless.

Hey Steve! Very nice to see hobbyists set up different type systems so we can see how they are done! Johnny

The one thing that bums me out is the fact that all of the frags came from a colony that got an infection. I had to frag it to save it. I have 20 frags of Acropora cf. loripes. In another month or so, I will be getting rid of 10 or more to make room for growth. Of course I will also be adding a few more. I don't want to go too fast. Heck, I don't have a sump or Caulerpa or anything forexport, just a good feeding regimen and a lot of reproduction and growth.

Nice looking tank Steve! Is that a mechanical filter in the center? It looks like an emporer 400, do you just use it for circulation?

Lookin' good, Steve! I like the way you have your power heads directed. Nice pieces of LR!

Beach bum,
You must be the filter man , yes it is an Emp 400. I use it for circulation and carbon. I run carbon 2 days per week because of the softies I have in the tank. You can't see them in this picture, but I have a nice little Sarcophyton cf elegans, a finger leather, and shrooms. I run the carbon to cut down on the chemical warfare a little. Also, when I create a "storm" I use it to trap detritus. But mostly, it is for aereation. I keep the tubes that drive the wheels pointed into the water to break it up for agitation. I also dose kalk 24/7 ito the filter.

Hey Fish,
The only thing the emperor has bothered is the Symphyllia? sp in the bottom left. It is one of those angel/brain things. I figured if he is eating on it he likes it. If the coral doesn't make it I will consider itan expensive meal . He hasn't bothered any other coral including Fungia, elegance, shrooms or anything.

Thanks for the compliments folks. There are several on this board that have been around for a while that I have learned a lot from. My tank wouldn't be possible without places like this! So to those that have helped and, perhaps, not even known it, I say thank you .
