Tank move successful!

Well, I am happy to say that the tank move went great! Had a couple of funny/scary moments during the move, but it all worked out... well almost.

My first concern is my BTA. He was attached to a huge rock (20+ lbs) so the BTA and the gold stripe went together in a styro box. They made the move just fine, finally got them in the tank, and they looked as happy as ever. Well, I woke up today and somehow the BTA crawled into a crevice in the rock. Normally it is about a baseball size. There are two holes where he crawled in about dime size. Could he have worked his way into a space that small? Not sure how large the space inside the rock is. Now it is poking out both little holes with a bridge of rock seperating covering the mouth. Should I chip this piece out? Any suggestions? I need help on this one please!!

Also, quick electrical question. At the old house I had to close the ball valve on the drain hoses a touch so the pump could keep up. At this house it is opposite. I have the drains wide open and they can't keep up with the pump now. Could the pump be running faster (more current?) at the new house? Would that mean my lights run brighter, and powerheads even?

Besides that, nothing major. My cat decided walk under my feet as we were coming out the front door carrying the tank. That could have been bad! I 'misplaced' one of my hippo tangs for about 2 hours. Finally found him setting the tank up. Put the sand in, then put the first hunk of rock in and there it was. Flipped right out of the first rock I put in the tank!! Got to do a cleaning of my tank! Rewire the lights. Went much better than the nightmares I was having the previous week!!

If anyone has an idea to get my BTA out of his crawlspace, please let me know!! Thanks!!

-Big Dave

PS - I will post some pics of the new deeper sand bed and reworked rock scape. Well, whenever I find the cable for the camera anyways!! Still unpacking everything!

Hey BigDave! Glad your move was a success! I would imagine with your BTA, it may move on it's own if the spot is not to it's liking. Trying to move it manually may injure it. Don't have much experience with these guys! Johnny

Dave,
Im glad to hear that your move went well!!! Yikes about the cat!!! I thouoght for sure you were gonna say you killed it. .

I wouldnt worry about the BTA either. They move in order to find a perfect spot for them. So....hiding must be the perfect spot right now! What is the clown doing?????

Congrats on the new crib!

Well you guys were right! The BTA found his way out of that tiny little hole he got into. I found an awesome looking bright green LTA and the clown was checking that out last night after I acclimated it. I might try to find another gold stripe to put in the tank and see if I can get them to pair up. Not sure yet though. Still trying to find my 'house warming gift' I'm gonna buy for myself!! See ya!

PS - Does anyone know where I packed my camera download cable???? Moving sucks! I can't find anything!

Hey Dave!

Glad the move went well Us PNWMAS folks at the picnic were wondering how your move, and Kimber's, was going.

Hey Dave,

Congrats on the move.

I'd suggest against trying to pair-up gold stripes, unless you can purchase them together as juvies. Only luck I've seen trying that has been violent.

Daryl-
I'm sure you're right about the clowns. I keep calling around to all the online places to see if they have a mated pair available. One place had just sold one but are supposed to call me when they get another pair in. I will just wait my time until it's right. My BTA is probably too small for a pair right now anyways. My LTA might be ok for a pair but I will give it time to grow as well. See ya!

PS - I can't find my razor either! I'm starting to get a little scruffy!
