Tank is filling with water

Well I've been really slow getting my new tanks setup. But I am right now filling the first one with water.

Pretty slow going with the RO unit... This is my question for right now.

I bought a tds meter.
it appears that my tap water reads as 25 vs. the 0 coming out of the RO/DI unit.

This 25 seems really low to me compared to the numbers I've heard other people say they have.

Now I'm going to use the RO/DI water but am just curious how bad would this 25 (ppm?) really be.

Thanks

anything but zero tdw over time will result in accumulations of dissoved substances in your system as the water evaps from the system and leaves behind the dissolved solids. The difference between a 100 TDS level, a 50 level, and 25 level and a zero level will be how quickly the system accumulates the TDS materials. I have seen systems have accumulations of phosphate to the point of showing algal bloom symptoms from using 3 TDS water if the TDS was composed primarily of phosphates (remember most muni water systems uses poly- or ortho-phosphates to reduce corrosion in metal mains lines for water). If you think about it, the substances that are the most difficult to remove using RO and DI are usually silicates and phosphates...

...so wht will be the most likely to show up in your filtrate if the source water is high in these substances or the filters are pooping out due to age or deterioration???

I'm going to go with Phosphates!

Thanks Tom
at least filling up the 50 will seem quick after the 75...
