Tank is dying

I just put a bunch of turbos, hermits, etc in the tank to clean it. Got my skimmer going and all was great. Then the skimmer pump FRIED and the epoxy melted in my sump and a wonderful smell overtook the water. Lost about 30 Turbos of different sizes and some animals on my live rock so, you guessed it, nitrates are high and I had to rush to get a new pump. Water looks terrible but at least I did not have anything of significance in the tank yet. Was about to stock it. I guess the timing was right. Got the skimmer working hard now so we shall see. Whew. Glad I did not spend a bunch of money yet.

If it's RIO, bad choice! Maxijets are dependable.

Although RIO fixed the problem but still the tragedy they have costed couldn't lift them back up easily.

(sorry to hear about that. Was the RIO an old one? or new? Always curious to hear if they REALLY fixed their problem with the new models.)

SO sorry about the mess, Rios tend to be awful, I don't buy them any more, too afraid to try the new "improved" models.

Water changes!

Update. Things have stablized in the tank. The skimmer was ROCKIN all night with no lights on and this morning it looks so much better and no nitrates. WOOOHOOO. Now a water change will occur and further joy and happiness with be realized.
