TANK IS 1 WEEK OLD TODAY! now for some questions

okay as i stated at 700 pm today my tank turns 1 week old. i was very grateful that i had only a minor spike and all my parameters are incheck. so it is now question time.
for my first question, about 2 days a go i added a couple peperment shrimp to takle the big job of eating my apsatsia that i had, well so far no luck and i only see theses guys at night wiggling from side to side in there little caves. how long does it take for them to see the wonderful buffet that is laid out in front of them?????
next i figured out that the crabs that hitch hiked are called rock crabs. are these good or bad. if bad how do i get them out, they only come out at night and never; i repeat never stray to far from there little caves in the rock.
third on my list is getting a green emerald crab to eat my bubble agle. will these crabs attack my peperment shrimp?
fourth, apstaisa problem, now i have been reading the post on this people "kalk" the apsatsia, now if you do this and they die wouldnt it create a spike? i know i should be more patient but i really would like to add my first fish, a lawnmower bleeny to eat my alge or a clownfish of some sort.
thank you for your help in awnsering these questions

i added about 10 peppermints and it took them about a week to kill 75% of the aipastasia (i hate trying to spell that word!) the emrald crab SHOULDNT bother anyone, mine is very timid and i rarely see him before midnight. as far as the kalk i couldnt tell you what to do there. in my opinion the peppermints are the way to go. hth

A one week old tank hasn't had time to have any sort of spike yet in my opinion and I would try to hold out for another 5 or 6 weeks before adding any sort of fish.

How many pepermints did you say you have it will take them some time mine did not start to take care of my aptaisia problem for about 1-2 weeks but once they did they ate hundreds. not a sign of an aptaisia left in my tank now the kalk method would be fine also and i don't think it should affect your cycle in any way.

I would think you will need to put your willpower to the test at this point and try to just sit back for a few weeks

what a concidence, my tank was reborn one week ago today aswell. as of yesterday, ph 8.4 temp 82, sg 1.024, nitrate 0 amon and nitrite 0, calc 480, phospates 0. got a clown in there now, bout 8 hermits and 4 snails. i have a small outbreak of diatoms, the snails seem to be keeping up with it except for the small nooks and crannies they cant reach. next thing i think i need to get are some stuff to seed the live sand some more. any suggestions? found a dead copopod in the skimmer this morning, i think thats a good thing. i did go and get 5 lbs of live sand from the lfs, but it looks like only got some southdown and poured it into a tank and called it live, hehe. never saw any atpsia when the lr was in fowlr setup.

well i bought cured live rock and have been testing water peramiters 5 times a day and i saw a small spike after the 2nd day till tues night since then everything has been in check. i bought 2 peperment shrimp. they peep at me at night when i have mt flash light on, then they run away when i see em, my apstasia is starting to multiply, i am going to get a emrald crab here in the next couple of days to tackle my bubble alge problem, then maybe ill wait another week and keep on testing. i also thought i might see more of a spike so i broght a couple water samples to my lfs twice and they get the same readings as i do.
