Tank Crash

Well, I went to move my fish out of my hospital tank and back to my main tank and only found 1 fish. It was barely alive and I moved and acclimated it. It however, died within a few hours . I found the other fish carcasses buried it the mat of cyano in the hospital tank . Needless to say, I cleaned out the algae and will wait for the ammonia to go down. I now have 0 fish . Only inverts in my main tank. I'll need to restock soon.

Mostly not checking the fish out often enough . I just fed them and checked occasionally. After one died, it was a chain reaction of ammonia spikes. I was at least hoping to save the last fish (Hmmm...sounds like a movie).

Maybe you should let things stabilize a bit? Less stress for you & future fish in the long run...

Good luck!

Thanks for the concern

It was my hospital tank that crashed. I know I have to let that one restabilize, but my main tank is fine. It has had no fish in it for about a month, so there are no diseases in it. I can just add new fish into there and they should be fine.

I'm not sure yet. I'm going to think about that for a while before I get them All I had was damsels and a chromis before, and one of the damsels was unwanted. Well, I guess it's like starting over. Maybe I'll read some more of my copy of 'The consciencious marine aquarist' before deciding.
