the problem with using a large grazer is that when they consume the algae they are creating waste that leaves the raw materials that fed the algae bloom in the first place. You still need to address the over abundant nutrients in the system or the problem will recur. If you get rid of the excess food, fish and other bio waste you are going to have to feed the fish extra food so that it survives. Somewhere in theory there is a fine balance, the tricky part is finding that sweet spot so that the system works without a lot of maint or constantly battling algae blooms

orange shoulders require a MIN of 260 gallons they get to be 14-24inches long. Yes, they are cute as juvies but they grow up. Please reseach your tang of choice proir to buying them some tangs get very large very quickly. Sorry if I sound like I'm being rude, I just feel very strongly about this.

My Kole tang wouldn't stop eating everything off rocks. All day long until the lights went off. About 4-5" in captivity, might work if not too many other tank mates.

I have a one spot in a 72 who is happy and healthy. He is a big one now however...no other tangs would be recomended. I also have a Naso in there with him and they bicker all the time. The naso will have to be moved to my 210 soon to make more room for the one spot.

One Spot? As in FoxFace?? A FoxFace is not a tang! They are Rabbitfishes. Many people think they are tangs but they are not.
