Tang Food

Just a question for those who feed veggies to their tangs. I have been using regular store bought Nori for a long time, but I always have the same problem. The dried stuff doesn't reconstitute very well and I end up with lots of little pieces floating around. I don't like this much un-eaten food in the tank, although eventually most of it gets eaten by someone. I'm wondering if fresh lettuce or spinach would work better. I have always liked using the Nori because I figure seaweed is nutritionally better than people food.

Let me know your thoughts and experiences....thanks!

I used sushi wraps / nori from my local world market, clip to a lettuce clip and wrap it with gutter guard so they can only get small pieces at a time, this works VERY effectively.

try spinach, brocolli, romaine lettuce, even cabbage

you can also soak your nori in some vitamins or garlic just to 'soften' them up before adding it to the tank so it will reconstitute more.

You can also not feed as much at a time if they don't eat it all within an appropriate amount of time

I would assume that vegetables from other than the sea would not have the same nutritional value, but who knows? I'd try some other techniques with the nori before abandoning it completely (though a mix of nori and vegies shouldnt be a problem).
