Yup I did the same thing with my shopvac, but it sprayed mine all over the wall! Your sand looks similar to mine when I pulled mine out. Ahhh memories....

Hi guys,
Well I'm happy to say it's all back together The water is a little cloudy so I'll take some pics later. I changed it around a bit with more open areas and fewer small rocks. BTW if anyone in the Chicago area wants some live rock and a few corals, pm me because I wantget rid of them. (Sorry, I can't ship)
Yes the shop vac incident was fun. It has a float inside that is supposed to stop the suction when full but water still leaked past. Not to bad cause I had a cover over the couch.
Kaye,
Yup, the kit works but you have to be patient and follow the directions exactly. When you first start sanding it looks like a big mistake. But as you get to the finer grit papar, it looks a lot better.

I'll bet after this it was run the vac for 10 seconds and check to see if full, kinda like when I'm filling up the lawnmower gas tank

Yup, I'm still here. Still cleaning up though. I moved the 100 gal tub to the back yard and filled it with old saltwater. I'm keeping some corals and rock that won't be going back into the tank in it. I took a cue from your tank and reduced the amount of rock and increased the open spaces. Looks much better IMO. Now I can sit back and look at my Spanky Tanky while the sound of fans drying the wet carpet fill the air.

Also, this thread (and personal experience) makes me wonder: does anyone who has ever witnessed the gunk of an old sandbed (which one can do only through handling/removing a sandbed), does such a person ever want to put sand in their tank again?!

Been there! Remember the time I almost flooded you out?
I like the open look too.
sc, this much I can tell you. After having to remove a 10ft long sandbed, I will never do one that big again.

Yes I do I was sitting in the apartment on the first floor while Spanky was topping off the sump with ro water on the second. As I sat there relaxing in a chair I felt something dripping on me. Looked up to see the ceiling fan with water coming out. I think Spanky lost track of time while playing with his squirls LOL.
Salt,
IMO they still are a good choice for a smaller tank where you could break it down farly easily. On larger tanks, unless you enjoy what I went through, I would not do it after learning about them from this board the last few years.

Hi cath,
I'm pretty much done. I checked the calcium (a little low) and alk yesterday. All I have to do now is change the 4 75 watt actinics and 3 400 watt mh bulbs. I have them sitting here but felt a little under the weather the last two days. I should get them in today. After that I'll clean up the glass and take some pictures.
