T5's to accompany reeflux 12k HQI MH lighting?

I am swapping out the SunPod (generic) 10K HQI bulbs in my Outer Orbit because ever since I got this new fixture some of my critters seem to be reacting negatively to the light.. it's very strange.. the star polyps whic loved being under my other 150W hqi mh seem to retract after 6 hours of exposure with these new lihgts.. Plus these generic 10k bulbs are way too yellow for me anyways... I decided to get reeflux 12k bulbs after hearing about their good PAR output + nice blue color.. So I have 2x 460 and 2x 420nm 36" 39W T5's.. the reeflux 12k's are supposed to have a good spike in the 450nm range so I thought maybe I would ditch the 460mn ones in favor of these:

does that seem like a sane plan?

Where are you getting your Par data? I Sanjay has not done any testing on the 150W 12K yet.

I would leave the atinics on honstally, they give you more light, and 150W MH over such a deep tank are not enough regardless of the bulb IMHO.

I visited a bunch of random sites yesterday.. I think I confused the PAR data with the 10k reeflux.. anyways, I heard a lot of good things about these bulbs.. great color + visable intensity.. from what owners of them seemed to say..

So you think I should keep all the actinics and not swap the 460mn's out for those 60/40's ?

FYI, this fixture kicks out a TON of light.. it fills the whole tank with light.. I had to move some of my mushrooms out of the direct path of the halides so they'd be happy, even at the bottom! not sure if I will be able to host clams on the bottom, but even with this depth these 150s are doing a very good job.

Oh, that's what you are talking about, yes I would go with the atinic blue bulbs. I thought you were intending to shut your Floressents off compleatly. The Atinic blue bulbs or the 11K bulbs will accually help you get more PAR out of your fixture.

All these people are talking about the 250W 12K or 10K reflux, not the 150W.

Lets put it this way, the BEST (Highest output) 150W bulb, is the Ice cap 6700K at 57 PPFD.

Compair that to:
The 250W XM10K (highest output 250W bulb) that puts out 137PPFD in the same style test.

Heck even the XM 20K in a 250W bulb puts off 73 PPFD.

Blast, I am talking about lighting again,... I am going away now.

Yeah - I just re-read them.. dang it. well hopefully the 150s will be comprable.. I think I'll end up with one pair of 60/40s to bring my PAR up a little, then leave the super actinics in place.. plus it will even out the white light at the top of the tank..
wewt.
