Geuismen
2-Pure actinic
3-actinic plus (50/50 bulb)
3-blue plus (11k)
My last combo was:
5-blue plus
3-actinic plus
it was WAY to bright, this combo is a little better, but still trying to knock down some light.
Going to change out a Pure actinic to a pro coral ATI bulb. (going to order 2 and figure out best combo) possible take out an actinic plus as well.

I am running option 4 and I really like it now, at first I was unsure, it seemed too blue, but now that I am used to it, I don't notice the blue tint and I love the color my corals have...and it's not as blue as it looks in the picture

Yeah, I was thinking maybe 3 or 4... I am still messing with my combo...
Nyles, I may be wrong, but I did look carefully at the bulb descriptions when I bought my bulbs...I think that the ATI Blue Plus and the Geisemann Actinic Plus are basically the same bulb as are the ATI Aquablue Special and the Geisemann Aquablue Plus... so basically you are running 6 of the same type of bulb and 1 pure actinic...that may be why it is too bright...take a look at reefgeek and check out their different bulb descriptions. If I have it wrong I apologize in advance... LOL

Yeah I tried that, when I added it to the combination of bulbs that had 4 actinic bulbs it was way to blue and when I added it to the 3 actinic combination it basically looked the same as the 4 actinic combinations. Switching the 6600 with a 14 k yiled the same "look" as switching a 14k with an actinic, but by leaving the 6600 in I get a higher PAR level

I have tried both the GE 6500K AND the GE 3000K... hated both of them... way to washed out and not blue enough. Plus with the high par of both of them, some of my corals did not like them either. I think we get more light out of these T5s than anyone thinks...

what I mean is.. that since the light is spread out the entire length of the bulb and not concentrated like with a halide...and that so far since PAR levels have been shown to be pretty good...that our tanks are getting a bigger dose of usable light and the fact that we can customize the spectrum by choosing different bulbs, we are giving our corals a wider range of spectrum. I just think alot of people are underestimating the ability of T5s to sucessfully light a reef tank where the corals not only have great colors but grow like crazy!
