First off, I would like to state that I currently have no interest in going BB. Although the idea intrigues me, I am not prepared to give up my sand yet. That being said. I am looking for advice on the best way to swap out my sand.
A little background. I currently have a 30g cube that has been up and running for about 6 months. When picking my substrate, I chose to use about 1 1/2" of
sugar fine sand. I have come to the conclusion that this may have been a mistake. It is so fine that it just gets on everything. Part of the reason is my flow wich is around 20x, although this does not seem to be a problem unless I change my outlets. It mostly occurs after maintenance.
I am looking to replace it with something a little coarser. I will be breaking the tank down in about two weeks, just moving it from the first to second floor. I am not sure if I can just replace the whole thing at that time orif I need to seed some prior to the move. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Shawn
