Surface Film problem

Hi everyone!

My latest problem with my tank is a build up of particles, film, etc on the surface of the tank. I have a 75 gallon, exalibur protein skimmer, HOT Magnum canister filter running the micron cartridge at the moment, UV Sterilizer, 65 lbs LR, 4 damsels, 1 yellow tang, 1 dragon goby (contributing to the problem??? sifts through the sugar sand, not sure if that is what's collecting on the surface), 1 lawnmower blennie, hermits, margaritas snails, 1 sally lightfoot, starfish. Tank has been running great, needed a new filter (the magnum is new) and since about then (along with the new goby) can't seem to get rid of this film! We have a surface skimmer for the PS but that doesn't seem to be helping. Anyone have any thoughts? What about those clarifying solutions? Kent Proclear? Even with those I'm not sure that the surface film will go away.......went to LFS today. They sold me Aquaclear Surface Skimmer that didn't seem to do anything! PLEASE HELP!

Get lots of turbulence up there
that should break it up and let the skimmer do its thing

Aquaclear should help, did you turn the handle to have the flow come from the surface instead of the bottom strainer? And put a spray bar at the top of the surface on the return side of your canister to help break the surface up.

Position a couple powerheads so that you see a definite roiling of the water at the surface

I had the same problem, and when I moved my filter return up higher so it was breaking the surface for a while, it cleared up in a couple of hours.
