Supplement ??????

I have 110 gallon reef, moderatly stocked with coral (no sps-little of everything else) and with about 10 fish as well. I add half the weekly amount each Monday and friday: Iodine, Strontium/Molybenium(sp?), Coral Vite, and Micro-Vert to the tank. Along with a capful of each part of Tech CB.

Also i use the KBH Balance blocks as well.

In general all seems fine. But not sure if the coral could flourish more or not.

Does this seem adequeate, overkill, or am I missing anything else important?

Thanks

if it aint broke, dont fix it

I know a lot of people out there think that supplementation is a crock and that you should be able to accomplish the same thing via water changes. Whatever floats your boat.

No drip here. Just a little shot here and there throught the sump. I guess if I did more regular water changes I would be OK. Mine are usually every 4 weeks or so. Tank is my in office so makes for a pain to do water changes on a 2 week basis as I have to lug the water there, and dump it down a sink in a bathroom.

I'm on THIS boat!

Even if you argue that additives DO help, I see NO reason in adding them, unless you can prove (ie Test for them) that those miscellaneous elements are being depleated.

I just use Kalk. That's it!

(I believe brent is talking about top off...NOT make-up water)

So keep the TECH CB? What about the Micro Vert as this more a feeding thing than supplement

Is there any negative to these supplements other than cost. Do they contribute to water parameter issues, algae, nitrites, nitrates, etc??

accualy yes to much can lead to high waste which promotes high amonia and nitrates.using a good skimmer will help keep this down.but if your using a good salt mix to start with you will need less addetives to maintain proper levels of nutrients.if your adding all of these eliments are you also testing for them to see how much may be needed?never add to your tanks what you dont test for.

I have never had any ammonia issues and vary rarley have a nitrate issue. Again if water changes are very 4-6 weeks, the addition of these sould be beneficial and seem not to be over kill then.

Also my phosphates and ammonia are virtually always 0, ph is constant, and nitates/nitrites are minimal.
