Sump Sock?

Check out this link, it's this sock that you attach to your sump and it's a prefilter sock that is supposed to both filter and reduce noise. I'm making own DIY sump right now and thought I would incorperate this into the sump? Give me your guys opinion on this do you guys think it'll be better to have this sock rather than nothing at all in my sump?

I don't use them,.. It works great as a mechanical filter, but I don't like mechanical filters in my tanks because they become a nitrate factory if not regularly changed.

Whiskey

I use one only when siphoning detrius off of the bottom of the main display. Once I'm done it goes through the washing machine until the next time I siphon.

i have one that i use if i stir anything up in the tank(usually during wcs) works great to clear up the water... but i remove it again and wash it once the water clears up. like whiskey said they(or any mech filtration) will turn to no3 factories if not changed daily.
